DO:

Attend the neighborhood meeting

Bring your concerns to the attention of the association

Submit written comments 1 week before hearing

Pick up staff report Friday before the meeting

Sign in—your name and address is critical for required notices

State your name and address and speak into the microphone

Direct your comments to required findings

Organize your testimony—divide topics among speakers

Be polite

Be brief

  DON'T:

Be late—the meeting starts at 6:00 pm

Forget that the staff recommendation is a recommendation

Ambush the applicant at the hearing

Submit written comments & then read them at the hearing

Hand us a stack of papers at the hearing

Disregard the “time’s up” bell

Clap, boo, or make uncouth gestures

Use your 3 minutes to talk about traffic when ACHD has submitted a “no impact” recommendation

Be nervous. We rarely bite
